Primary Health Care Nursing in Nelson and Marlborough Update

Recently two meetings were proposed to provide an opportunity to consult on the draft model for Primary Health Care Nursing in Nelson and Marlborough. Due to the limited response from GP colleagues, these meetings have been cancelled.

I have now mailed out individual copies of the draft document to all GPs across the region with an accompanying feedback form. This is your opportunity to comment on the proposed model as well as provide information to inform the development of the final model.

If you would like to arrange meetings on an individual or practice level to discuss this project and the document, please get in touch with me directly.

Adolescent health issues

Combined CME/CNE Evening for GP≠s and Practice Nurses - 17th September 5.30 to 7.30 pm at Nick Smith's Rooms, Annesbrook.

Dr Sue Bagshaw, Senior Lecturer in Adolescent Health at the University of Otago,Christchurch School of Medicine, will provide tips on using the Home, Education, Acitivities, Drugs & Alcohol, Sexuality and Suicide (HEADSS) Assessments to improving our adolescent consultations.

Dr Hazel Lewis, Public Health Physician and Clinical Leader of the National Cervical Screening Programme will discuss the HPV Programme and Adolescents and the rationale of implementing the HPV programme and answering the practical, clinical and ethical issues which may present in General Practice.
