Andrea Chapman - Practice Nurse Mentor and Clinical Supervisor

I am a Nursing Council approved assessor and I have completed training in Clinical Supervision. I offer this as part of my role as Practice Nurse Mentor and Clinical Supervisor.
Clinical Supervision is a fairly new concept for Practice Nurses, and to help you understand how I might be of assistance, the main principles are as follows;
- To provide a regular opportunity to reflect on your work (specific incidents, care of specific patients, areas of responsibility, stress or pressures that influence your work etc.)
- To develop skills and strategies that allow you to be more effective in your role
- To gain insight and understanding about why things turned out the way they did
- To be validated and supported as a person and as a professional
- To ensure that you are not left to carry, alone, difficulties, problems etc. as a result of the work that you do
- To have space to offload and express personal responses/feelings that arise as a result of your work
- To be proactive rather than reactive
- To check decisions and choices you have made in the course of your work
- To ensure quality of work
They are your sessions - you decide the content.
All sessions are strictly confidential (unless there is a safety issue of course). I can arrange to with you in a location that is convenient (your workplace, my office or somewhere less formal).
A verified record of your sessions can be added to your portfolio and used as evidence towards meeting competencies for your APC.
