bgdiamond:   Rural Nursing: Aspects of Practice.

Dear Colleague

I would like to introduce you to the first rural health-related book recently published in New Zealand. Based on the work of 17 New Zealand rural nurse contributors, the book provides a broad overview of topics relating to rural nursing. Topics range from theory development, to describing and adapting practice for the contemporary rural landscape, as well as research relating to clinical practice. This book was edited by Jean Ross and received Rural Innovative Funding from the Ministry of Health for its development and publication.  Rural Nursing: Aspects of Practice raises a number of factors for consideration for the future success of rural nursing practice.

The contributors share their wealth of experiences, knowledge and positions to stimulate debate about the similarities and differences experienced by rural nurses in their practice. More than just distributing knowledge, this text encourages alternative views and provides new knowledge to be debated.

This book will be of wide appeal, not just for clinical nurses - including rural and urban nurses who provide services to rural populations, nursing undergraduates as well as postgraduate nursing students, nurse educators and researchers √ but to all rural-focused allied health-related disciplines. Researchers, policy developers and academic institutions as well as international rural colleagues will find the book≠s content of great interest.

The book has been distributed nationally and internationally and is receiving excellent feedback.

Regards
Jean

bgdiamond:  Introducing Angela Taylor - Nurse Educator for Primary Health

This is to let you know that I have been appointed to the 0.5FTE Nurse Educator - Primary Health role.

I have taken over from Sharon Sandilands. I will be based predominantly at the PHO, with one day a week at the DHB office.
I thought I should introduce myself briefly, and hope to meet up with you all in person over the next few months. I would appreciate any feedback, re how and when it is best to catch up with you.

I know you are all busy and as I only work part-time across the district, I am keen to set up a line of contact that works for all of us. I am available via e-mail and telephone as per contact details, and am happy to come out to you.

Some of you I know, from Practice Nurse days having worked for DR≠s Harker and Edge, and also at Nelson City Care. More recently, I come from five years experience in acute medicine on the Medical Unit at Nelson hospital.
I am looking forward to working with you.

Kind regards, Angela
