Diabetes Awareness Week 2009

Diabetes Awareness Week 2009 is being held from 17-23 November.

The theme for this year is 'The Quiet Thief'. Reduce the risk of complications by early diagnosis and keeping your diabetes well managed.
In our region Friday November 20th will be recognised as diabetes awareness day

Diabetes Awareness Day activities planned include:

• Information stalls in Trafalgar Street Nelson and the Richmond Mall
• A cooking demonstration at Victory Community Centre is being held on Thursday 19th (evening) - free entry and tasting, all welcome.
• Profiles in The Nelson Mail and The Leader of several people who have had diabetes over a long period of time
• Promotion of the free Diabetes education courses which are called Living With Type 2 Diabetes. With the next courses being held in February (Stoke) and May (Richmond) 2010.
